Attorney & Mediator
Karen is an attorney, accredited family and divorce mediator, and dispute resolution strategist, serving as Director at Malan Vermeulen Incorporated and Managing Director of Alternative Conflict Resolution (Pty) Ltd.
With over two decades of experience across legal practice, corporate advisory work and business, Karen is a leading figure in alternative dispute resolution in South Africa, with a focus on family mediation, court-connected ADR and large-scale mediation programme implementation.
Theresa Luyt
Mediator & Conflict Consultant
Theresa Luyt is a multi-disciplinary dispute resolution specialist, NABFAM certified Rule41A family mediator, and restorative justice practitioner at MV Inc Attorneys.
Her practice focuses on family and workplace mediation, court-connected ADR, restorative justice and people-centred conflict resolution. With experience across law, financial services, compliance, business ownership and coaching,
Theresa brings a practical and holistic perspective to mediation, understanding that disputes often involve legal, emotional, financial and behavioural dynamics.
Mervyn Vermeulen
Attorney & Mediator
Mervyn is the Managing Director of Vermeulen Attorneys and a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL). With a strong track record in family, civil, and labour law, Mervyn champions settlement-first strategies grounded in legal realism. He is a thought leader in integrating ADR into traditional legal practice.
Mervyn is currently serving as the Chairman of the EXCO of SAAM (South African Association of Mediators)
He is a Nabfam certified mediator and a Parental Coordinator.
