About Mervyn Vermeulen

Mervyn Vermeulen has led Vermeulen Attorneys since 2014, specialising in family and commercial law, and is a director of Malan Vermeulen Incorporated. He was admitted as an attorney by the North Gauteng High Court and is enrolled with the Legal Practice Council; he is also admitted as a solicitor by the Court of Session and is a member of the Law Society of Scotland.

He has mediated since 2021 and has been a NABFAM-accredited mediator since 2022, with a practice spanning divorce and family mediation, civil and commercial facilitative mediation and appointments as Parenting Coordinator. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, a worldwide association of practitioners recognised by their peers as the most experienced family law specialists in their countries.

Mervyn chairs the South African Association of Mediators in 2026, having served on its Executive Committee from 2025. He delivers CPD-accredited training in collaboration with SAAM and the Social Justice Association of Mediators, and founded the Think Legal Platform, which has educated legal professionals and mediators since 2023. He is registered for Court-Annexed Mediation in the Gauteng High Court.
