Accountable
Court-aligned protocols, documented processes and settlements drafted to be made orders of court. Professional accountability is what separates mediation from a conversation.
South Africa's first attorneys to practise dispute resolution — and nothing else.
Malan Vermeulen Incorporated (MV Inc.) is a South African law firm that practises alternative dispute resolution exclusively. It was founded on a single conviction: that the most consequential disputes deserve a firm whose only interest is resolving them. Five admitted attorneys, all accredited mediators, working from offices in Constantia Kloof, Roodepoort and nationwide.
Conventional firms mediate as a sideline to litigation. The incentives are what they are. We chose the opposite structure: admitted attorneys, accredited mediators and parenting coordinators, practising exclusively in alternative dispute resolution.
The consequence is simple. When an attorney refers a matter to us, the client remains theirs — we have no department to refer them on to. When a family or a board comes to us directly, they meet people whose professional success depends entirely on the dispute ending well.
“Dispute resolution through innovation” is not a slogan. It is the business model.
Three commitments, carried in the three marks of our name. Every engagement is measured against them.
Court-aligned protocols, documented processes and settlements drafted to be made orders of court. Professional accountability is what separates mediation from a conversation.
Privileged and without prejudice from the first enquiry. No public record, no press, no precedent. What is said in the room stays there, and the settlement is the only thing that leaves.
A dispute is a moment in a family's or a company's life, not the whole of it. We are attentive to the people who will still be sitting across a table from one another when it is over.
Every mediator at MV Inc. is an admitted attorney, accredited by a recognised mediation organisation and registered for Court-Annexed Mediation in the Gauteng High Court.

Tell us, in confidence, what you are facing. We will tell you plainly whether mediation is the right route — and if it is not, who to speak to instead.
